This was a 2-acre clear cut in Cambridge, Ohio - dense pine timber, heavy root systems, and ground that hadn't been touched in years. The kind of job that looks simple on paper but demands the right equipment and a crew that knows how to sequence the work properly.

We brought in the excavator and skid steer to work the site together. The excavator handled the heavy lifting - pulling timber, sorting logs, and loading material while the skid steer worked the ground level. That kind of two-machine coordination is what keeps a job this size moving efficiently instead of dragging on.

Once the trees were down and material was cleared, we went straight into root raking. That step matters more than people realize. Leaving root systems in the ground causes serious problems down the road - uneven settling, regrowth, and ground that's nearly impossible to build or grade on. We don't skip it.

After the root raking was done, we seeded the site and spread straw to protect it. That's not a finishing touch for show - it's erosion control. Two acres of freshly worked ground left bare is a problem waiting to happen, especially on sloped terrain like this one.

The finished result is ground that's actually ready for whatever comes next - whether that's construction, grading, or general use. That's what land clearing done the right way looks like. Not just trees down, but a site that's been fully prepared from canopy to ground level.
